What to expect during a session:

As a photojournalist, I shoot everything on location, and favor the natural and comfortable environments of the family’s home. When I arrive, I will need to take a moment to look around for the best light and location, and then we start. Homes do not need to be showpieces to be the perfect location, and part of my skill is finding what works in every situation. I do also bring a black fabric backdrop to use, should you prefer.

Sessions are 1 hour, with no limit on the number of photographs, people, clothing changes, or situations, as time allows. I vary the combinations of people, with some all together, others of just the child alone or with either mom or dad. I will never say, “smile” but I do help everyone feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera, making sure I am in the right place at the right time to capture the moment. The photographs will be a mix of looking at the camera and not, with some portraits, but mostly moments of expression and feeling towards each other. Typically, each session provides an ample variety of 100-300 unique images to choose from.

What to wear:

Darker solid colors look best. The color white is also an option, but looks best only when everyone is wearing it. Patterns, prints, and logos are visually distracting and to be avoided. Babies are beautiful naked or wrapped in a soft blanket.

Sleeve lengths look best at long or 3/4, make-up should be normal, and jewelry simple with watches removed. Most importantly however, is to let yourself be and wear what is most comfortable and attractive for you.

These family photography sessions are a truly enjoyable experience, and they provide unique, once in a lifetime images your family will cherish for generations.
